Grouphugging across the country.
I want to give you guys a look behind the scenes of Grouphug. Lori Bailey and I are managing members of the collective, which means we do the designer outreach, curation, gallery planning, event logistics, and all the fun stuff that will make the “Feed Me” show a reality!
Lori and I have been friends for almost TEN YEARS. Yeesh, we’re getting old. We met in freshman studio in 2006 at Georgia Tech. The cover picture is a gem of the two of us trying to blow bubbles in front of the GT College of Architecture building. As we pursued our degrees in Industrial Design, we bonded over late night x-acto accidents and coffee runs. We graduated in 2010 and both worked in Atlanta for a few years. Then, in 2012 I moved to New York to work at the tech start up littleBits electronics. A few years later, Lori moved to Seattle and is currently working on her own venture called Sugar and Stamp.
Since we’re miles and miles apart, we can no longer go on bubble tea runs together or indulge in day long Miyazaki marathons. Thanks to technology, we can still connect and plan all the things.
So, cheers to good friends + getting shit done even when you’re 3,000 miles apart!
